'Come Out & Play'
Bushrangers Basketball comprises of teams based in several suburbs of Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin and Canberra (and Sydney in 2020!). Club President and founder Stella Lesic grew up playing basketball in Melbourne. Having experienced life as a closeted youth basketballer, they were driven to build safe spaces for everyone to 'Come Out & Play'.
They are the largest LGBTIQA+ basketball club in Australia and NZ! They pride themselves on creating safe spaces for LGBTIQA+ basketballers and their allies to play community sport.
They are seeking to generate interest in all players in the LGBTIQA+ community (and allies) who are disengaged in sporting activity or looking for a safe space to play basketball.
They have a strong focus on supporting the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse players. They are excited to now be an official diversity partner of Transgender Victoria and WNBL powerhouse Southside Flyers!
